Mission
Vision Values
The mission of The Literacy Center is to provide literacy services and educational support of the highest quality to individuals and families seeking to acquire the skills needed to attain personal and employment goals. In an atmosphere of support and respect for cultural diversity we inspire confidence and encourage our students to reach their full potential. Our vision is to teach all who are in need; to create a better society through education; and to provide an opportunity for people to serve their community. We place the needs of our students first, offering quality services with integrity and confidentiality.
"The Literacy Center welcomes everyone. They make sure people get the kind of help they need. The Literacy Center gave me the confidence that I needed to continue my education and follow my dream of becoming a pre-school teacher."

Illiteracy in the USA
  • 27 million persons in the U.S. cannot read a street sign.
  • 75 million are unable to read a high school textbook.
  • More than 20% of adults read at or below a fifth grade level- far below the level needed to earn a living wage.[1]
"Every day, the problem of illiteracy creates silent devastation in the lives of our fellow citizens, and compromises the quality of life within our community. As business owners and concerned citizens, we feel that supporting The Literacy Center represents an investment in our community which is as wise as it is humane. We urge our neighbors and fellow professionals to join us in this crucial effort."
